ANNOUNCING CHANGES TO PROMOTION CHANNEL REPORTS

The purpose of the Promotion Channel reports is to inform the presenters about how each of the promotion channels is driving new ticket sales, according to the customers' answers to the checkout survey.

The Problem

In the past, the Promotion Channel reports summarized all orders, including gift card redeems, exchanges, and cancellations. However, some presenters found this confusing because large numbers of gift card redeems, exchanges, or cancellations would make the data in the Promotion Channels report difficult to understand what is truly driving new ticket sales.

The Solution

Last night, we changed the behavior of Promotion Channel reports to omit gift card redeems, exchanges, and cancellations. This way, only truly new ticket sales will be reflected in the Promotion Channel reports, and so they most accurately reflect new ticket sales.

Keep in mind that total order/ticket sales between Sales reports and Promotion Channel reports will no longer agree because ALL orders are included in Sales reports, whereas gift card redeems, exchanges, and cancellations are omitted from Promotion Channel reports. This is expected.

One More Thing...

The changes discussed in this email were made to the following reports only...

  • Promotion Channels
  • Promotion Channels by Day and Time
  • Promotion Channels by Date
  • Promotion Channels Extrapolated
  • Promotion Channel Combination Trends

These changes are NOT YET implemented in the following reports (which continue to include gift card redeems, exchanges, and cancellations):

  • Promotion Channel Combination Analysis
  • Tickets Sold by Promotion Channel

In the next few weeks, we will include these changes into both Promotion Channel Combination Analysis and Tickets Sold by Promotion Channel reports so they are all consistent with the other Promotion Channel reports.
